The 2001 Ladbroke Grove Cabernet Sauvignon has taken the mantle of the best boutique wine in Australian after winning the First Estate Wine Merchants Wine of the Show Trophy at the 2003 Boutique Wines of Australia Wine Awards.
Chairman Huon Hooke, along with judges Gary Baldwin and Toni Paterson MW completed the judging of a record 864 wines in this year’s Boutique Wine Awards before announcing the winner at the Gala Dinner on Saturday 26th July, at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel.
Co owners John Cox and Marie Valenzuela, from Coonawarra’s Ladbroke Grove, were in town to collect the trophy. “Awards like this are fantastic for Australia’s smaller wineries,” Cox said. “It’s great to see companies like Woolworths First Estate Wine Merchants getting behind these awards and supporting the boutique wine industry. I am really proud to receive this trophy.” |
