At the 2003 Hong Kong International Wine Challenge, one of Western Australia’s leading boutique wineries, Alexandra Bridge has stolen the show with wins of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

The Hong Kong International Wine Challenge is affiliated with the London International Wine Challenge, regarded as one of the most prestigious competitions in the world.

Attracting over 30,000 trade visitors and occupying an exhibitor area over 30,000m2 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, it is revered as the premier wine award event for the Asian Pacific region.

“ This is one of the very first shows that the Alexandra Bridge 101 wines have been entered into, since their launch 6 weeks ago. To win 3 medals with the fourth wine winning a seal of approval is absolutely fantastic.” said an excited Alexandra Bridge winemaker Phil Tubb.

“ I understand that the blind tasting carried out for each category for the four Alexandra Bridge 101 varieties competed against 944 other entries from around the world.”

All four of the Alexandra Bridge 101 wines received awards:

  • Alexandra Bridge 101 Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 – Gold
  • Alexandra Bridge 101 Shiraz 2001 – Silver
  • Alexandra Bridge 101 Chardonnay 2001 – Bronze
  • Alexandra Bridge 101 Semillon 2001 – Seal of Approval

The win is a great boost to the Alexandra Bridge winery which is emerging as a super-premium boutique producer, focused on the southern area of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia’s South West.

Phil Tubb stated: “I am sure this is a sign of great things to come from Alexandra Bridge winery.”
