For Immediate Release 13th August 2003 At the 26th Annual Sheraton Perth Wine Awards last night, Hay Shed Hill winery won Gold for the 2001 Margaret River Shiraz. The competition attracted its highest ever number of entries with over 450 wineries from around the state participating, according to Sheraton General Manager, Craig Seaward who presided over the awards dinner. Hay Shed Hill winery was also a nominee in the category following the Gold Medal announcement in Class 11, other red varieties and blends. This win is an outstanding achievement for winemaker Virginia Willcock. “ It is a great honor to win, considering that we where pitted against very tough competition.” Judges for this years awards included John Hanley (Chairman of Judges), Ray Jordon, David O’Leary and international guest judge Philip Goodband MW from Britain. The win is a great boost to the Hay Shed Hill winery, a super-premium boutique producer, focused on the Willyabrup area of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia’s South West. |
