When Jarvis Estate wines released their first vintage of wines earlier this year they knew they were good, but hadn't expected the critical acclaim to come so soon. With two separate judging panels heaping praise on the Margaret River produced wines Matt & Jackie Jarvis are over the moon with the results. The wine comes from the 2002 vintage, which was the first year the Jarvis' bottled under the Jarvis Estate name. The fruit is all estate grown in their vineyard planted in 1998, located in the Margaret River sub region of Bramley.

2002 JARVIS ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON – Retail Price $24

Jarvis Estate are thrilled that this wine has just received a 4 ½ star rating (out of 5) in the current issue of Winestate magazine (Volume 26 Issue5 - Sept/Oct 2003). Of the 574 Cabernet Sauvignons and blends tasted by the judging panel only 1% achieved a 5 star rating, with only 5% achieving a 4 ½ star rating.

The Jarvis Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was the highest rated Margaret River wine under $25. They were are also particularly pleased that of the 574 wines tasted only 3 wines from the 2002 vintage achieved a 4 ½ star rating or higher. With the panel judging Jarvis Estate 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon worthy of cellaring for 3 to 5 years this wine represents excellent value for money.

2002 JARVIS ESTATE CABERNET FRANC – Retail Price $38

Another success with this wine receiving a silver medal at the recent Perth Royal Show wine awards. Jackie Jarvis said “Whilst we are delighted with the recognition we are disappointed that premium straight varietal wines like our Cabernet Franc are judged under the miscellaneous “other reds and blends” category. We are sure this wine will be a gold medal winner given another year in the bottle”

The Jarvis' are very proud of this elegant fruit driven wine and it is a shame wines like this are sometimes overlooked in favour of their big, bold cousins. Margaret River produces some excellent Cabernet Francs and Jarvis Estate are sure that the silver medal awarded to the 2002 Jarvis Estate Cabernet Franc is just the start of many accolades this wine will achieve over the coming years.
