Brookland Valley has had an excellent start to the 2010 capital city wine show circuit, receiving two trophies and a gold medal at last night’s Royal Queensland Wine Show dinner.
‘It’s great when we receive positive recognition for the Verse 1 range. I’m proud of the fact that we can offer such balance and regional and varietal characteristics in a sub $20 wine from Margaret River.’ Brookland Valley winemaker Peter Dillon stated
The trophies awarded to the Brookland Valley Verse 1 Chardonnay 2009 included
• 'The Gold Coast Wine Press Club Trophy' for best gold medal winning dry white in commercial classes
• 'The Queensland Wine Press Club Trophy' for best gold medal winning chardonnay in commercial classes
‘The winemaking philosophy at Brookland Valley is simple - select the best fruit from the best vineyard sites, don’t interfere too much during the winemaking process and allow the regional and varietal characteristics to shine through.
In addition to the enormous honour of being crowned ‘2009 Winery of the Year’ by James Halliday, Brookland Valley is also Margaret River’s most awarded winery and the cellar door was named as one of the Top 10 Cellar Doors (in Australia) in WBM Magazine, April 2009.
In evaluating Brookland Valley in the Australian Wine Companion 2009, Mr Halliday stated “the quality and consistency of the wines is, quite literally, awesome”.
The Brookland Valley Verse 1 Chardonnay 2009 will be on tasting all weekend, at the Good Food & Wine Show in Perth.
