Ecomate makes Banrock Station even leaner and greener

19/01/2008

In March 2008, Banrock Station will reaffirm its commitment to the environment by releasing its wines in a new enviro-pack called EcoMate, making them even more accessible and convenient for drinkers.

Great for taking to backyard barbies, picnics and fishing trips, EcoMate provides the drinker with the same great wine but in a lighter, more portable pack that has additional environmental benefits.

EcoMate packaging is 100% recyclable and is predominantly derived from renewable sources. It requires less energy to produce and transport, because it’s made from lightweight materials.

Consumers have been enjoying Banrock Station wines for more than 12 years, knowing their purchase was helping the environment. Now they can support an even bigger contribution.

Banrock Station already donates a percentage of its profits from each sale to environmental projects around the world and, to date, has committed over $5 million to more than 60 different initiatives.

“We have a strong environmental focus, so it was a natural progression to give our customers the choice to buy our wine in an enviro-pack,” says Miriam Leenders, Global Marketing Manager.

“Customers are increasingly looking for convenience - just look at how successful the screw cap has been. With Ecomate, it’s quick to chill and its freshness can be retained by simply squeezing out the air and resealing.”

“The one litre size also makes it perfect for sharing with groups of friends.”

Banrock Station Chardonnay and Shiraz will be available from all major liquor retailers from March 2008 and will retail for $9.99.
